TAD Software does not limit the number of Boundbooks that you can create except in the lite version which allows for one boundbook.  Each version has its limitations set, however, you can only have up to 3 Boundbooks open at a time. You may want to keep a Boundbook per fiscal year, per firearm type, per retail store, or FFL, etc.
Find out more about ordering and setting up your TAD Software on the Order page. https://www.tadsoftware.com/products Once you have a License key and login, right after the login page, the software will automatically ask for a license key. Cut/Copy and paste the license key in the box that shows up and you are off to the races.  If you need help uploading prior transactions or boundbook data, please contact our customer service.
The ATF requires that “All data entered into the computer system must be recorded into the database and cannot be capable of being edited or modified at a later date without generating an audit trail. The software must retain any correction of errors as an entirely new entry, without deleting or modifying the original entry. The system may allow for entries in a notes column to explain any correction.” This is the reason that TAD Software does not allow deleting records that are entered into the system. They are used to maintain an audit trail. However you are able to edit / modify individual entries if you have made a mistake. However, the original entry will be kept unchanged to meet this BATF requirement. There is one exception where you are allowed to delete a contact and this is if it has not yet been used in an Acquisition or Disposition transaction.
Unlimited. Unlike some of the competition that tries to charge you by the GB, we allow you to have unlimited size on the Bound Books.
You should be able to get up to approximately 2 million acquisitions and 2 million dispositions per Boundbook. The number of acquisitions / dispositions able to be stored in a Boundbook will vary based on the amount of data that you record per acquisition / disposition.
TAD Software does not limit the age of the acquisitions / dispositions that can be entered into the system. If you are going to enter historical data, it is best to do this prior to entering current / new acquisitions / dispositions.
There is no limit to the number of acquisitions / dispositions that are related to a firearm. However, you are limited to having only one pending disposition firearm serial number at a time.  This ensures that you do not accidentally sell the same item to multiple people.
TAD Software will be updated when new features / bug fixes are released. The update process will be backwards compatible with Boundbooks created with previous versions of TAD Software. All updates of new versions will occur automatically and you will be notified when you login when that has happened along with a new features list.
TAD Software allows you to upgrade from any version to a desired version and vice versa at any time without paying the same amount again. It is prorated.  This means that if you sign up for one version and then half way through the month decide you want a better more robust version, the original amount that you paid when you signed up will be applied to the new version on a prorated scale.
No. Not only will you not lose any data, but TAD Software is backed up automatically every day and stored in 3 separate locations for redundancy which eliminates the chances of full data loss.

The data can be exported a number of different ways. You can do an automated / manual backup of the Boundbook data which you can designate to store locally (this is required by the ATF and will be setup at the beginning of your subscription) . The formats that are exported are .csv and .ffl. The .csv does not allow you to re-import the data into the system however the .fll Boundbook can be opened at any time. Another way to export data is to use the Acquisition and Disposition Report. This will allow you to export the report to .csv, .xls, and .pdf.
If you try to enter a historical paper bound book or different vendors electric bound book into TAD Software you may run into some problems. If an FFL has expired then TAD Software will prevent you from using that FFL to protect you from selling or buying from an expired FFL. Contact TAD Software Customer Support and we can work with you to import your historical bound book data for an additional fee. For assisted imports there will be a fee charged of $65.00 / hour for the number of hours it requires to get your data entered into TAD Software.
Absolutely Not. No information is sent or shared with the ATF. Gun traces will occur directly from the ATF to you.  We are not involved in that.  Your gun software will be yours and you control its information. All of your bound book information is stored in your bound book .ffl Boundbook. Your bound book data is yours and is the property of your FFL and we do not share your data.  What you do with it, however, is another story altogether.
You should always be on the newest, most current, version of TAD Software. All gun software updates will happen automatically and no installation is required. As a web based software, you never have to worry about installations of any software whatsoever.
